The Kunság wine region is the largest wine producing area in Hungary, located in the Great Hungarian Plain. Kunság is known for its extensive vineyards, covering approximately 20,000 hectares, making it a significant contributor to the country’s wine production.

The region produces mainly white wines, with traditional Hungarian grapes such as ‘Cserszegi Fűszeres’, ‘Irsai Olivér’ and ‘Ezerjó’ being some of the most popular grape varieties. The sandy and loamy soils of Kunság, together with the continental climate, provide ideal conditions for growing a wide range of grape varieties. In addition to white wines, Kunság also produces rosé and red wines, although these are less prominent.

Kunság wines are often characterised by their light, fresh and aromatic profiles, making them popular for informal drinking. Kunság winemakers are increasingly experimenting with modern winemaking techniques and grape varieties to increase the complexity and appeal of their wines.

The region hosts several wine festivals and events throughout the year, celebrating its rich winemaking heritage and diverse wine offering. Visitors to Kunság can enjoy wine tastings at local wineries, explore the picturesque vineyards, and learn about the region’s long-standing winemaking traditions.
